Minecraft Engineering using LEGO® Materials (for students entering Grades 1-3)
Dates:                         June 27th – July 1st

Venture into the world of Minecraft in our unique LEGO® experience! Get ready to build your base, craft your tools, use your Minecart to harvest raw resources, and battle to stop the Ender Dragon from ending the world! Campers will explore the endless possibilities of LEGO® with a trained Play-Well instructor. Please note that projects will not be going home with campers.
Special Note: If you child loves Legos and can’t get enough of it, we’ll also be offering Jedi Engineering Strikes Back Using LEGO Materials camp the week of July 11th!
 
Chess (for students entering Grades 1-4)

Learn the game of chess. This camp is open to students that are totally new to chess. Players who know the rules of chess and basic concepts like castling are also welcome. Students will learn the names and values of pieces, their movements, strategic ideas and planning. By the end of this camp, players will learn how to think and make the right chess moves to play a full game to checkmate.
Note: If your child cannot attend this week’s camp, DIG USA is offering chess camps in July and August in Wilton. For more information, please visit their website at www.teamdigusa.com.
 
My First Food Truck (for students entering Grades 4-8)

Join us this week for My First Food Truck! Campers will select a food theme, choose an ideal location, identify target customers, design appealing menus, and form a comprehensive business plan covering strategy, marketing, operations and finance, including capital-raising needs. Activities include drafting mission statements, setting prices, estimating expenses and learning key financial metrics. This program offers a tasty way to develop business savvy! Note: No food will be handled at camp.
 

Sitter Safety (for students entering Grades 7-10)

Be the best babysitter you can!  Learn the skills you need to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.  This two day class will cover infant and toddler child care, emergency situations, behavior, and will include American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid Certification along with Hands only CPR. Students will be required to do an in-service project and will be contacted by the instructor prior to the start of the program with details.  This program is a great “refresher” course for students who have taken the Sitter Safety program in the past. Note: Students must be present both days. There are no makeup classes available.

Baking with Gabriela! (for students entering Grades 3-6)

Join the growing number of children who love to bake and have some fun with us at baking camp! Campers will learn how to bake like pros as we master the techniques for homemade breads, pies, pizzas, cookies cakes and more! Each day we'll learn a new baking skill from cutting butter into flour for pie crusts, kneading dough for buns and pretzels, melting chocolate over a bain marie for cakes and so much more.
Note: Items used in this program may contain nuts or gluten or may be processed on shared equipment with nuts or gluten. Please note we cannot accommodate individual dietary needs or restrictions at all times. 
 
 
Gross Science! (for students entering Grades 1-5)

Get ready to learn the science behind all GROSS THINGS! Are you interested in smelly, gooey, icky and creepy things? If so, this is the program for you! Did you know most stinky things are chemical reactions? Or that most stinky or gross things help us in everyday life and our earth? Such as bugs, burps, and waste!  We have tons of crazy, gross chemical reactions that you won’t want to miss! Campers will receive a Mad Science Lab coat, goggles, and specially designed take homes to help extend learning at home!
 
My First Lemonade Stand (for students entering Grades 1-4)

Let's sell lemonade! Young campers will become "lemonade entrepreneurs" and will learn how to make yummy lemonade and earn money selling it! From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, campers have fun all week while developing business savvy.
 
Jedi Engineering Strikes Back Using LEGO® Materials (for students entering Grades 1-3)

This is the way! Get ready to embark on your LEGO® journey as we defend the Wookies on Kashyyyk, repair the Rebel shield generator on Hoth, and rescue Baby Yoda from Moff Gideon. Come explore a galaxy far, far away with the help of an experienced Play-Well instructor and learn which "Force" is actually with us! Please note that projects will not be going home with campers.

Do you like to shop till you drop? In this practical program, campers become savvy shoppers through games and hands-on projects. Experiential bartering and purchasing activities help students internalize key concepts related to money choices, like needs versus wants. Campers analyze marketing power, put their cashier math skills to the test, and engage in dynamic marketplaces taking turns as buyers and sellers.
 
 
Jr. CEOs (for students entering Grades 4-8)

How cool would it be for you to be the boss at Apple or Nike for a day? In this leadership program, you can! Campers act as CEOs for leading companies and collaborate to make strategic recommendations to address real business issues. Case studies include popular companies and examine the role of female and minority CEOs. Campers enhance their problem-solving skills, develop business savvy, and cultivate a strategic mindset as future leaders. Note: Campers need to bring a laptop to camp each day.
 
Cool Boomerang! (for students entering Grades 1-5)

Let’s bring chemistry to life with hands on and mind blowing experiments to discover the wonderful world of chemical reactions. Campers will create crazy concoctions daily that will make their hearts explode with passion for science! Mixing mysterious substances we will create fizzing elephant toothpaste, sticky putty, quick sand, squiggly worms, cool snow, and tons of booming explosions! Campers will receive a Mad Science Lab coat, goggles, and specially designed take homes to help extend learning at home!
 
Mad Transformers! (for students entering Grades 1-5)

Using the power of science, we will take simple, everyday items and transform them into life hacks that can be useful in everyday life! Students will be testing and experimenting items that they have seen trending all over social media! Don’t let the clock “tick-tock” without signing up your child for our hands on and open ended program! Students gain the basic understanding of chemistry, engineering, and physics! Every student receives a lab coat, goggles, and specially designed Mad Science Take Homes to help extend learning at home!   Campers will receive a Mad Science Lab coat, goggles, and specially designed take homes to help extend learning at home!
 
Little Inventors (for students entering Grades 1-4)

Are you ready to innovate with SPARK Business Academy? Get your creative juices flowing in this project-based program, where you will identify the need for an invention, think on your feet, and create real structures and solutions! Campers also learn about famous inventors and internalize how recent innovations improve our lives.
 
Summertime Sewing (for students entering Grades 1-3)

Discover the joy of working with fabric and yarn in this week-long summer camp! Join the excitement of making
something and learn the basics of hand sewing. We’ll be working on fun beginner’s projects like pouches, pillows,
stuffed animals, pompoms, and much more! We‘ll also spend some time outside, have some snacks and go to
the playground.

 

Health & Safety:
Please note that the pandemic may cause changes in our operations that are unpredictable. Our in-person WOW! after school programs will follow guidelines established by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, our local health district and the Weston Public School District.  We’ll continue to adjust our health and safety policies and procedures as updates become available. All classes will have health and safety supplies, including hand washing, where available. All pick-ups at the end of the program will occur outside.
