Please note that the pandemic may cause changes in our operations that are unpredictable. We are planning for in-person after school programs that follow guidelines established by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and our local health and school district. We’ll continue to adjust our health and safety policies and procedures as updates become available. All classes will have health and safety supplies including hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes. Is your Middle Schooler interested in learning Mandarin and getting a head start before high school? If so, let’s learn and have fun this winter with Ms. Chong! Held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, students will be introduced to the basic Mandarin language in this 8-week course. Individual style and interest will be focused. We’ll be reading, while visualizing Chinese characters, speaking, and listening, which will be emphasized during this program. While a non-credit program, there will be assigned homework to support student’s learning.

Students will be provided with a paper textbook and workbook called “Chinese Wonderland” (Level 3 Traditional version) where they will enjoy Mandarin language via cloud learning. They will be required to bring their own laptop to class and will be set up with a Chinese keyboard on their computer once class begins. Learning Mandarin with two days of commitment per week will provide a strong basic foundation. We’ll have a great experience together in learning Mandarin and gain a strong basic Mandarin knowledge as well!
Note: If a student cannot come to the class for any reason, all learning materials will be found online, so they will not miss any lessons and can catch up easily. We do not prorate for any missed classes.
