In Person Camps

All in-person camps will be held on school campus from 9:00-12:00 p.m.

 

Chess (for students entering Grades 2-5)
Dates:                        June 21st – June 25th

We’re excited to collaborate with the DIG USA to offer chess this summer! This camp is for anyone from beginner level to expert. Not only will you learn more about the game, but you’ll also gain many life skills including creative thinking, patience, problem solving and much more!... And of course, we’ll be having lots of fun along the way! The camps are run by professional chess coaches who have a lot of experience in teaching. Don't miss out this great opportunity…We hope to see you at the camp! Note: If you cannot join us this week, or want to continue the game, we’ll be back the week of June 28th!

 

Future Millionaires Bootcamp (for students entering Grades 5-8)

Join SPARK Business Academy for this unique financial literacy camp with a different daily theme: personal finance, investments, entrepreneurship, leadership and innovation. Food Truck Entrepreneurs (for students entering Grades 5-8)

Do you have a passion for food and dream of starting your own business? Campers select a food theme, identify their business location and target customer, design appealing menus, and form a comprehensive business plan covering strategy, marketing, operations and finance, including capital-raising needs.  Activities include drafting mission statements, setting prices, estimating expenses and learning key financial metrics. This program offers a tasty way to develop business savvy!

 

Pokemon Engineering using LEGO Materials (for students entering Grades 1-4)

Join Ash and Pikachu as you build, capture, train, and explore the vast world of Pokémon with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts. Design your own Poké Balls, explore the Kanto region, and fly with Charizard. Explore engineering through the fun world of Pokémon with the guidance of a Play-Well instructor. Note: All materials used for the camp are the property of Play-well TEKnologies and will not go home with the students.

 

Career Launch (for students entering Grades 9-12)

This practical program covers career exploration (industries and occupations with good career prospects, interest-career match), employment readiness (draft an impactful resume, write a compelling cover letter, prep for various interview types), and money management skills (W4s, taxes, budget your first paycheck and set financial goals)!  A must for campers seeking to take control of their future!

 

Mad Science Potions & Explosions (for students entering Grades 1-6)

Get ready to dig your hands into MAD giant experiments! This camp will be jam packed with massive, fizzling eruptions and explosions! Testing everything from dry ice to walking on oobleck, getting messy with hydro dipping and ginormous stretchy putty, we will prove science is fun! Campers will receive a Mad Science Lab coat, goggles, and specially designed take homes to help extend learning at home!

 

Fit to Knit! (for students entering Grades 3-6)

Have you always wanted to learn to knit or crochet? Now is the time in this week-long summer camp! Join the excitement of discovering the art of knitting and crocheting and embrace your creativity and experience something new! We’ll be working on fun beginner’s projects to learn the basics. Projects may include scarfs, headbands, pouches, embellishing flip-flops, dolls, pompoms, and much more!  What a great way to relax, while building concentration and gaining confidence!

 

Camp Sew Together!  (for students entering Grades 3-6)
Dates:                        July 19th – July 23rd

Join us for some creative fun! You can learn to hand sew or improve your current skills, combined with some Fiber Arts elements, like embroidery, weaving, braiding, pom-poms, and others.
We have a great variety of projects like beach outfits and accessories, stuffed animals, bags, back bags, and more! We’ll also have some outdoor breaks in between, snack time, going to the playground or playing games. This camp is sew much fun!

 

Lego Flix Film Camp (for students entering Grades 3-7)
Dates:                        July 19th – July 23rd

Bring Lego worlds to life! We provide the Legos, and you provide your imagination. Campers will work in small groups (2-4) to create a Lego set with Lego characters for a movie they create, storyboard, write, shoot, and voiceover in age appropriate groups. What a fun way to focus on creativity, imagination, and teamwork. And at the end, you and your child will have a movie to remember the experience forever! Downloads will be available within a month after camp ends. Note: Movies become the property of program participants who will then have the right to share online. When registering online, please read and sign the release agreement.

 

MSI Mystery Lab (for students entering Grades 1-6)

Welcome, future Mad Science Investigators! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to successfully solve the Mad Science Mystery!  Experience hands on activities that will warp you into a double agent’s world! Just like a real detective, campers will use clues, crack codes, and spy gadgets to collect evidence that will help analyze the case and ultimately solve the Mad Science Mystery. Campers will receive a Mad Science Lab Coat, goggles, and specially designed take homes to help extend learning at home!

 

Sitter Safety (for students entering Grades 7-10)

Dates:                                July 27th – July 28th

Be the best babysitter you can!  Learn the skills you need to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.  This two day class will cover infant and toddler child care, emergency situations, behavior, and will include American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid Certification along with Hands only CPR. Students will be required to do an in-service project and will be contacted by the instructor prior to the start of the program with details.  This program is a great “refresher” course for students who have taken the Sitter Safety program in the past. Note: Students must be present both days. There are no makeup classes available.

Please note that the pandemic may cause changes in our operations that are unpredictable. We are planning for in-person camps and programs that follow guidelines established by the Connecticut Department of Public Health  and our local health district. We’ll continue to adjust our health and safety policies and procedures as updates become available. All classes will have health and safety supplies including hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes. All drop-off and pick-up of kids will occur outside. Parents / guardians should not enter buildings. We're excited to offer in-person programs this summer and look forward to seeing your beautiful children!

 

Please note. We’ll be following guidelines from the Connecticut Department of Public Health and our local health district, and we’ll adjust our health & safety procedures as updates become available.

                          

As of March 2021, these are the guidelines:

  • Staff and participants will be required to wear masks.
  • Daily sanitization of surfaces and objects during camp time. 
  • Mask, water, and hand sanitizing breaks as needed.
  • Practice social distance per guidelines
