Weston’s One World After-School Programs
 
Weston Youth Services is pleased to offer After-School programs for students in Grades 6-8 at Weston Middle School.  Please note that enrollment is limited in order to keep class size small and classes will be filled on a first-come, first -served basis
 
Registration:
Online registration will open on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:01 p.m. If a program is full, you still may register and your child's name will automatically be placed on the wait-list (No payment is required at this time). If space does become available, you will be notified via email.
 
Important Note: If you do not have an account established with Weston Youth Services, you will need to set up an account online once the registration systems opens at 10:01 p.m. on Wednesday,
September 4th. The system will ask for your email address and generate a temporary password which will then be emailed to you so you can proceed with registration.
 
Fees:
Please see each course listing for specific fees. ALL materials are included in class fee.
Financial Aid is available; please contact Allison Lisbon, Director of Social Services,
at 203-222-2663 if you would like to inquire about assistance.
 
Payment:
  • ALL payments must be made online by credit card via our secure site.
 
  • Full payment of program fees must be made within twenty-four (24) hours of registration.  The system has been set up to automatically delete unpaid registrations after twenty-four (24) hours.   When a registration has been deleted due to non-payment, a system-generated email will be sent stating:
 
"This is a notification that the registration for (registrants first name and last initial) has been deleted due to non-payment on (date and time that registration was deleted).”
 
Refund:
Once a class begins, we do not issue refunds or credits. If you cancel your child’s registration prior to the start of a program, you will be charged a $25.00 administrative and processing fee.
                       
Program Dates:
Please check individual programs for dates.
 
Class Length:
Please check individual programs for descriptions, room assignments, start dates, and program end times.
 
Dismissal:
Students will be dismissed from the front entrance doors. Please be prompt in picking up your child as our instructors have commitments after class.

Important information:
 
  1. In the event of an early dismissal due to inclement weather or any other school emergency, all after-school programs will be cancelled and children will be sent home per regular school dismissal plans. In the event of a cancellation, we will send a reminder via email and also post this information on the Weston Youth Services website. We will make every effort to make up missed classes due to cancellations.
  2. There is no nurse on duty after normal school hours. In the event of illness or emergency treatment, we will call 911 and then contact parents, or the emergency contact if necessary. If your child has any special medical needs, please contact Charlene Monn at 203-222-2586 prior to the start of the session.
  3. Weston Youth Services reserves the right to cancel a class due to lack of student enrollment.
  4. If a student is dismissed for disciplinary reasons or withdraws from the school or the program, the entire program fee is forfeited.

Monday Program 8–week session
September 16th – November 18th (no class Sept. 30th and Oct. 14th)
 
NEW! Bulls & Bears: The Stock Market Game
Maximum # of participants: 12 students
Fee: $ 160.00
Location: C-24
Time: 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
 
Come and learn how investors make (and lose) money in the stock market and how you can start investing successfully at a young age! In this hands-on class, students use a cool stock- trading simulation tool with real-time market data to select a $10,000 stock portfolio, “learning by doing.” 
Smart investing will help you meet long-term financial goals. Make your money work hard for you! Topics include: 
• Stocks and bonds 
• Understanding stock price graphs 
• Stock indices around the world 
• Risk, return and diversification 
• Case study on IPOs: SNAP, Facebook, Twitter 
• “Buy low, sell high” 
• Mutual funds 
• “Cool finance math” (e.g., rate of return) 
Note: Students must bring an electronic device with them to class each week.

Tuesday Program
10–week session

New! Hand-Crafted Body Products
Minimum: 6 students; Maximum: 8 students
Fee: $ 195.00
Location: Room C-20
Time: 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
 
Have you ever wondered what it takes to make hand-crafted body products? If so, please join us for this new program and find out! We’ll be introduced to essential oils and the variety of products we’ll be making during the session. From lip balms, hand soaps, bath salts to bath bombs and candles, students will use all natural and organic, when possible, to create a different product each week!
 
Instructor:
Some of you may be familiar with Hilary Misiano’s line of body products called From Hil, With Love, that were sold at the Lachat Town Farm last year. Hilary is excited to offer this program to students this fall and is currently working on her certification for aromatherapy. 
 
 
Wednesday Program
5-week session
 
Sitter Safety Course
Maximum # of participants: 20 students
Fee: $ 90.00 (per session)
Location: Room F-5 (Health Room)
Time: 2:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m.
 
Students may choose to register for any of the following Wednesday sessions:
  • October 5th – November 6th
  • February 26th – March 25th
  • April 22nd – May 20th
 
Weston Youth Services is excited to again offer four sessions of the Sitter Safety course this academic year. Each course will cover:
  • American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid Certification along with Hands Only CPR
  • Infant and Toddler Child Care
  • Emergency Situations
  • Child Development and Behavior
 
The requirements to pass this course and to receive a certification are as follows:
  • Completion of attendance at all 5 sessions (unless parents notify course instructor)
  • Completion of a written final exam.
  • Supervised baby-sitting in-Service Project with the return of completed questionnaires.
